How does the City of Salisbury select shade structures for regional reserves?

Following a competitive public tender process, Weathersafe was awarded an expansive multi-site contract to design and construct public shade assets across three separate reserves within the City of Salisbury. At Carlyle Reserve, the core objective was protecting an existing, unshaded playground array from intense solar degradation and high heat.

Why did site inspections indicate a framed structure over traditional sails?

During the initial design phase, Weathersafe conducted a rigorous site inspection and deployed digital 3D shade modeling software. While the reserve featured mature trees providing natural perimeter shade, modeling showed the playground core remained vulnerable during peak mid-summer heat.

A permanent 14m x 10m Framed Shade Structure was selected because its rigid perimeter beams ensure maximum, uniform shadow cast directly across the footprint of the play equipment during peak UV hours.

What asset protection measures were integrated into Carlyle Reserve?

To ensure long-term public asset protection in a suburban reserve, Weathersafe integrated customized anti-vandal discs onto every single structural column. This prevents unauthorized climbing, reduces structural liabilities, and ensures the City of Salisbury receives a durable, low-maintenance playground cover that works in harmony with the natural canopy.
